April Showers Bring May Flowers

People! It's finally May. Can you believe it? I sure can't. Time seems to have moved very fast over the past few months. I cannot, will not, have trouble, believing that it has almost been a year since I graduated college. When I think back on this year, I am a bit mystified by how incredibly fast it all has gone. But then, when I really sit down and think about it, I realize that I have done quite a lot in the past year. It feels like I am sort of a new person from my Peace Corps experience. I have a much different perspective on life now, and I am ready for the next phase of my life, whatever that may be!

Let's see what can I tell you about the past week and a half. Well first it was EARTH DAY last Friday (4/22). I volunteered with E DAY and I got to meet a few cool people. I also saw some pretty sweet cars that were showcased at the event. One of the front runners of course was the Electric Delorian. You can't really tell from the picture, but the license place says E Flux and on the back it says OutaTime. This car does not run on nuclear power, ha, but it is pure electric which is pretty awesome.

Another one of my favorites was this little ditty. I can't remember what it's name was but it looked really awesome. And its all electric as well. After my volunteering was over I went to check out the other vendors in Grand Central. I talked to some interesting people including a veggie bus that had a science lab on board. They educate kids about science and have no carbon footprint. HOW AWESOME IS THAT???? Really freaking awesome.

I went to the auto show that it going on at the Javits Center. It was cool, mostly I was interested in the electric vehicles most namely the Leaf seen here. During the next few years it will be interesting to see what new technology will come out. Right now electric cars have about a 100 mile range. Traditional models take around thirty minutes to charge at a charging station at 220V and at home with lower voltage typically at 110V it takes around 9 hours to charge. So yes, not ideal for a lot of travelers especially for longer trips. However, the average American commuter travels way under 100 miles per day.

This past Monday I went to a Yankee game with some awesome friends. The game was sort of blah, but the company made up for it. I also took part in some weeding and pruning at Gorman Park up in Washington Heights, which was great. I love getting out there in the community and helping. Thursday I went to a New York Cares Orientation with my lovely sister and I am looking forward to signing up for some cool iniatives going on in the City.

This weekend I went up to my mom's up near Stone Ridge NY. Had a great lunch with a good buddy and checked out some of the old mills up near High Falls. Today I helped my mom with some much needed mulching. It was EXHAUSTING. But the outdoors looks beautiful. I took a much needed break on the
                                                      hammock I put up!
