The next adventure is almost here!

Hi friends and family,

It's been over a month since I lasted posted and I can't believe that it is almost here! I am leaving to go to Senegal in almost a week!!! It is such an exciting time and I can't believe that I applied to Peace Corps about a year ago and my departure seemed so far away, and now its here.

So what can I tell you about my new adventure.....I will be in rural Senegal as an Environmental Education volunteer. I will be in Thies, pronounced chess, which is 60 km due east of Dakar for 9 weeks for training. During training I will be learning either french, or wolof or pular or...? not sure what other languages...i think those are the most common. In any case, I'll also be learning about health/safety and how to be an effective environmental educator. I will be living with a host family in Thies for the duration of my training. After training my official assignment will begin. As of now I am not sure where I will be in Senegal, but once I find out I will be sure to let everyone know.

Like I said this will be my address for the first nine weeks, and then I will have a different address when I'm at site.

I'm freaking out at the moment and I have so much stuff in Willa's room, not sure how its all gonna fit in my suitcase.
